Perhaps in an effort to confront America’s dark history of death and exploitation, the Met’s Costume Institute has released some of the most cursed promotional images of the year. This year’s exhibit, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” features rooms staged by major American directors. What are these rooms lack, however, these are supermodels that don’t make you want to tear your eyes out. Nine directors – Sofia Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Regina King, Autumn de Wilde, Chloé Zhao, Janicza Bravo, Radha Blank, Julie Dash and Tom Ford – were assigned rooms that vibrated with their cinematic work. “It invites the audience in,” Coppola said. vogue. “I hope you get lost in the moment of every space.” You could certainly get lost staring into the eyes of the woman fainting in de Wilde’s vision of the Benkard room.

This pup looks like a little gentleman, which is important. However, the fact that he never gets his cherry, that he is frozen in the moment just before getting the treat he so deserves, is criminal. The injustice of it all distracts the viewer from the strange ostrich neck of Sir Puppington’s owner.

It’s giving “Would you like to live deliciously?” Zhao decided to style the Shaker Retreat Hall in golden, spooky hues Crucible– type shit. His room has expressionless mannequins, unlike the very expressive faces in Wilde’s. It adds a layer of mystery to the piece. Are the other women worried about their floating friend? Excited? They almost look bored. “Goody Prentiss is floating again. YAWN. Let me know when she can do something really miraculous, like make me horny for my old, old, old husband. If Dua Lipa doesn’t take a selfie next to her levitating predecessor, I sue.

Coppola made a a dark journey version of great expectations, and we should all be grateful. Which theme park has the rocks to create that Miss Havisham illusion, in which she looks pretty in the mirror, only to turn around and see her shriveled old mug scaring a bunch of 5-year-olds? Years from now, Met security guards will confirm that this mannequin could be heard whispering to herself late at night.

The King’s Richmond Room exhibit highlights the work of black couturiers, whose contributions to fashion were suppressed by Virginia’s white population. Very cool, very worthy of highlighting. But why is this tray shining? Is it to draw attention to domestic work? Is it to give Bright vibes?

These models are wrong. The man sees a Animatronic Helen Henny character from Munch’s Make Believe Band, and the woman will soon be dating Pete Davidson.
