Brighton Ballet Theater Hosts Historic World of Dance Online Festival | New

NEW YORK, June 24, 2020 / PRNewswire / – This Thursday on Zoom, the Brighton Ballet Theater (BBT), a non-profit dance studio and cultural oasis for Brooklyn South, is hosting its 33rd World Dance Festival, for the first time on a virtual platform. Students, who represent a myriad of diverse cultures and backgrounds, and who come from both public school programs and BBT’s studio classes, will dance classical ballet, contemporary dance and character dance from many traditions. of different national dances.

“This online festival shows how children manage to succeed despite difficult circumstances,” says BBT founder and executive director Irina Roizin. “It’s a new experience. Due to Covid, we had to record performances several times as the students perform at home with very limited space. In the end, however, we had very good results and it shows to how disciplined the students are. ” While the pandemic has placed many constraints on funding, classes and rehearsals, BBT is hoping that the wider audience who can now access the festival online will more than make up for the loss of the live theater experience.

The festival also coincides with the 25th anniversary of BBT artistic director and chief choreographer Edouard Kushnarev. As a tribute to his famous career with the organization, the festival will feature a short documentary on Kushnarev as well as performances and greetings from alumni. Those interested are also encouraged to donate to a scholarship fund in honor of Kushnarev.

BBT has been offering online dance lessons for april 2020 and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. After July 6, BBT will add a limited number of live and in-person classes in accordance with New York health guidelines.
