Annual returns from nut sales

The Nativity Women’s Guild of St. Francis Circle of Nativity Catholic Church is pleased to announce that 2022 will be the 41st year that it will provide the community with the opportunity to purchase nuts. Just in time for the holidays, the circle will be selling the nuts in 1lb bags.

These high quality nuts will include shelled pecan halves and pieces, shelled halves and pieces of walnuts, salted cashews and a variety of candied pecans. All nut orders must be placed by Monday October 17th and will be shipped to arrive by Sunday November 20th. Proceeds from the sale of nuts benefit the Nativity Food Warehouse, which provides free groceries to the needy in more than 50 Brandon-area parishes. .

Pelican Players presents Nana’s naughty panties

Pelican Players Community Theater will present Nana’s naughty panties Thursday to Sunday, October 20 to 23. It’s a wonderfully light-hearted play about a vivacious grandma with a creative way of keeping her life interesting, entertaining, and fun from start to finish.

“Audiences may assume they know what awaits the title of the play, but, as with all good comedy, there are hysterical and comedic twists around every corner,” said show director Bruce MacDonald.

Tickets are available at the Kings Point box office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. All shows are held at the Kings Point Veterans Theater in the North Clubhouse, located at 1900 Clubhouse Drive in Sun City Center.

Plant City Community Chorale Announces Fall Concert

The Plant City Community Chorale is thrilled to announce its fall concert, Watersong. The concert will be presented on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Eastside Baptist Church, located at 1318 E. Calhoun St. in Plant City. The choir, under the direction of artistic director Coleman Flentge, will present this fluid musical offering of varied musical styles, genres and languages.

Grace Community Church Fall Market

Grace Community Church, located at 5708 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. in Lithia, will hold its fall market on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a wide variety of vendors with something for everyone, so get out there and start your holiday gift shopping early.

Shred Event help you and hope for it

Protect yourself against identity theft by bringing all your old tax returns, bank statements, bills, credit card applications and any other identifiable documents to Focus Wealth Strategies to have them shredded. The event will take place on Saturday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at Focus Wealth Strategies, located at 3419 Brook Crossing Dr. in Brandon.

It will also collect unwanted electronics (excluding televisions) and non-perishable food to benefit Hope for Her, a grassroots organization where women in crisis and trauma find strength, skills and support. they need to rebuild their best life.

Strawberry Ball donates $50,000 to food bank

The Florida Strawberry Festival presented proceeds from its annual Strawberry Ball to the United Food Bank in Plant City.

“This year’s Strawberry Ball was a huge success,” said Phil Waldron, Chairman of the Florida Strawberry Festival Board of Directors. “Everyone enjoyed the food, the dancing, the theme, the entertainment and of course the camaraderie.”

The event raised a total of $50,000 for the nearby food bank.

Jewish holiday services

From September to October there are a number of Jewish holidays. This is a time when most Jews want to attend holiday services. Holy Day services at Congregation Beth Shalom in Brandon are open to the community and free, although donations are gladly accepted. Rabbi Lefkowitz and Sandy Santucci (cantor soloist) will conduct the Selichot and High Holy services.

Howl-O-Ween Animal Costume Contest

The annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest will be held Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mary & Martha House Home Goods Market, located at 312 US 41 S. in Ruskin. All animals are welcome. The parade and judging will take place at noon with trophies and prizes for best overall costume, most creative costume, and best pet and human costumes.

You can register on-site at the Kittie Corral kiosk beginning at 11 a.m. or pre-register online at www.jens-market.com. All proceeds from the event go to Kittie Corral, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Annual FishHawk Ranch Car Show Returns in October

FishHawk Ranch will be holding its annual car show on Saturday, October 8 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Palmetto Club located at 17004 Dorman Rd. in Lithie. Along with the car show will be food trucks, DJ Joe Ferrante, a raffle with proceeds going to America’s paralyzed veterans and the chance to donate blood.

Fundraising for the Academy Of Dance Dynamics car wash

The Academy of Dance Dynamics held their 12th annual car wash fundraiser at the River Hills Shell Garage and had a blast. The day was filled with many signs, dancing and car washes.

Renee Melanson, owner of the Academy of Dance Dynamics, said: “I come from a large family and had to give my parents my dance bill knowing we didn’t have it. I do this fundraiser to try to ease the financial burden on parents and it’s always a great event.
