Costumes for RennCon, Ren Faire’s Cosplay Weekend – NBC Los Angeles

The idea that time travelers can pass through the years as easily as us time-bound humans pass through a door?

In our imaginations, adventurers of eternity leap between centuries, move between millennia, and dance through decades, carefree, carefree, and worried.

But when a time traveler is faced with a bridge between two months, say, the place where April ends and May begins, what can he do?

A spirited suggestion: she should turn her time machine in the direction of Irwindale, and the Original Renaissance Pleasure Fairwhere RennCon will take place in style on April 30 and May 1.

It’s April 30 and May 1, 2022, so you sometimes have trouble tracking particular years, as we imagine time travelers might sometimes do.

Time-traveling cosplayers are welcome at the outdoor gathering, as well as fans of royal attire, anime fans, pirates on shore leave, as well as fairies, gnomes, and goblins.

RennCon is the all-cosplay weekend, in short, and if you’re a fan of costume games, you’ll want to put on your most dazzling outfits and head to Ren Faire for a day or two.

Certainly, many visitors show up in costumes or sport vintage props throughout the festival, which runs every weekend until May 22.

But RennCon is a whimsical window for ultra-creative costumes, and a cabotage of cosplayers will be in festive force at Ren Faire, enjoying live music, visiting queens, and an eclectic assortment of vendors.

Oh yeah, and special RennCon events, like the Time Traveler Costume Contesttaking place both afternoons from 3-3:30 p.m., with a winner announced at 4:15 p.m.

Where to meet if you want to compete? Set your favorite timing device to 2:45 p.m., when you need to materialize at the “top of the food court” (where the contest entry is).

And the MARVELous Heroes and Villains Parade? The time has yet to be announced for this colorful cavalcade, so keep an eye out for on this page to find out the details.

RennCon events are included with your Ren Faire admission, but you’ll want to show up early to put away your time machine or car; parking is limited this year, to make room for a few burrowing owls, and early arrival is recommended.

Of course, if you’re a time traveler and constantly stare at your timing device as you go from century to century, showing up somewhere early shouldn’t be a problem, we’ll bet.

Nor should you plan an event that takes place in two different months, the last day of April and the first day of May.

For once you’ve conquered quantum travel, mastering an event that takes place over a weekend where two months meet shouldn’t put anyone off at all.
