Downtown Desert Yoga (DDY), 303 S. Alameda Blvd. in Las Cruces, will offer Explore the Possibilities,

Yoga teacher training courses, starting in May, said DDY owner Colleen Boyd.

“Our focus is on exploring the eight limbs of yoga, embracing the roots of yoga, and sharing yoga asana lessons through Optimal Movement,” Boyd said. The training will include the history and philosophy of yoga, yamas and niyamas (ethical guides to yoga), energetics, medicines and a variety of different styles of yoga.

“We believe yoga is a practice of self-learning and self-discovery and is about much more than creating awesome forms of yoga,” Boyd said. “Yoga literally translates to ‘unity’ – unity between mind and body, unity in our lives, and unity in our communities.”

Boyd said DDY’s training is unique because it will allow the participant to choose which path they want to focus on.

“You’ll be exposed to everything from Restorative to Yin on one side of the spectrum, to Vinyasa Flow and Hot Yoga on the other side,” Boyd said. “And it’s not exclusively for students interested in becoming a yoga instructor. It can be a way to deepen your own practice.

The training includes evening and weekend classes over a period of about 40 weeks, Boyd said. It offers the 200 CYT Yoga Alliance certification.
