The city of Galt is looking for lifeguards and swimming coaches for this summer and offers training from April. This is a great opportunity for high school students looking for summer employment.
The lifeguard class includes all of the training needed to be a lifeguard in California, and it is mandatory to become a Galt lifeguard or swim coach. The training costs $225.
The first part of the training is an online course offered by the American Red Cross that must be completed before the in-person training begins.
The in-person portion runs April 11-14 (noon-7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and noon-5 p.m. Thursday). Once students successfully complete the course, they can apply online to the city for the position of lifeguard.
The city is also looking for a swim coach and two assistants to work Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (April 18 to June 10) and 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (June 13 to July 15). .
Lifeguards could start working as early as April 18 for noon swim (likely Monday through Thursday) and swim practices (3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.). Additional hours become available in mid-May and continue through Labor Day.
