Summersville – A six-week Certified Practical Nursing (CNA) course is scheduled at the Nicholas County Campus of New River Community and Technical College in Summersville beginning April 18, 2022.
“New River CTC’s CNA class helps students establish their nursing careers while helping the community apply what they’ve learned to care for others,” said instructor Michelle Johnson. .
Johnson has worked in nursing for over 40 years. She is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Johnson taught in the New River CTC Practical Nursing Program for 13 years. She has experience in surgical, medical, surgical, cardiac and geriatric nursing and currently works in clinical nursing with WVU Medicine.
The CNA class will meet from 5-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 3-7 p.m. Friday. The class includes both an in-person lecture and a laboratory and clinical component.
Tuition for the CNA class is $1,800 and includes textbooks, a background check, drug test, uniforms, stethoscope, and exam fees. New River CTC’s CNA class is approved for tuition assistance funding through Workforce West Virginia’s WIOA program and Workforce HEAPS.
