Texas Ballet Theater Adds Former Houston Ballet Dancers To School Staff

The Texas Ballet Theater has announced the appointment of Elise and Rhodes-Elliott, retired Houston Ballet dancers, teaching and staffing positions with the Texas Ballet Theater School.

Elise Elliott will join TBT as School Business Manager and Rhodes-Elliott will be the new instructor for the Advanced and Vocational Training Division.

“I am delighted to welcome Elise and Rhodes to our family”, artistic director of TBT Ben Stevenson, said OBE. “They are not only great dancers, but also wonderful actors. It is so beneficial for our students to learn from professional dancers who can share their experience, because there is so much more to ballet than just a technique.

Originally from Sacramento, California, Elise Elliott has danced with the Houston Ballet for over 10 years and retired as a soloist in 2017. She has danced in many works by distinguished choreographers including Stanton Welch, Antoine Tudor, Ben Stevenson, OBE, Jiri Kylian, Georges balanchine, William Forsythe, Christopher Bruce, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Twyla Tharp, Wayne MacGregor and John cranko.

Elise Elliott most recently served as Ballet Director at the Texas Academy of Dance Arts (TADA) in The Woodlands, where she developed TADA’s ballet department and established her Youth Ballet Company. The company presents a mixed repertoire and full-length community productions throughout the Houston area.

“I have always admired the Texas Ballet Theater family,” she said. “I feel incredibly lucky to be able to start this next chapter of my career as the School Affairs Manager. I look forward to working with young dancers throughout my time in the studio as an instructor, as well. than to help develop the two sites of the schools, administratively, at a time when the arts are most needed. “

Rhodes-Elliott is a native of Florence, South Carolina, and has danced with the Houston Ballet, where he reached the rank of Demi-Soloist. While at the Houston Ballet, he enjoyed performing works by Marc Morris, David Bintley, Christophe wheeldon, Jerome Robbins and sir Frederic ashton, among others. He retired in 2018 after 11 seasons with the company.

He has also danced in works by Andy and Dionne Noble with their company, NobleMotion Dance. After retiring from the Houston Ballet, Rhodes-Elliott joins TADA as deputy director of the ballet.
