MANILA – Paolo Ballesteros has once again shown his creativity by designing one of the national costumes for the Binibining Pilipinas 2022 competition.

The actor-host created an outfit inspired by the tikbalang, a half-human, half-horse creature from Filipino folklore.

In an Instagram post, Ballesteros shared details about his latest masterpiece.

“This national tikbalang costume is fashioned with intertwining branches of the Balete tree that form the horse’s head and butterfly sleeves, and hug the body down to the hooves to conceal the creature’s impending presence,” he said. -he declares.

“Sheets of translucent, ghostly white fabric are draped decoratively as his alluring mane and tail dance with the wind as he hides in the shadows. The body is adorned with lace, white pearls and rhinestones. sparkling like diamonds,” he added.


The Ballesteros costume was worn by Bb. Graciella Lehmann, Pilipinas 2022 contestant, who represents Oriental Mindoro in the national contest.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Lehmann said she thought the tikbalang costume was a “game changer” in the Filipino beauty pageant scene.

“It’s time we presented something really mysterious. Coming from the mythology of the Philippines,” she said.

“Maganda tayong tikbalang dito,” she added.
